I'm pretty sure you'll see at least some of the fruits of your labour within your lifetime. We do need to make the most of whatever opportunities are available, in order to hand down as positive a legacy as possible for the next generations.

This is a rogue one philosophy I talk to my dad of @Pbnsg about. So much good is done by people we don't know who have long gone. Yet, Sometimes those people or the next ones become Elon Musk. Hopefully the story doesn't end with us dying :).

The Greek poet Sappho was banished and had to live in exile in Sicily during her lifetime. Now over 2500 years later she is celebrated as being one of the most prolific poets in history. I'd say she got the last laugh.

But we're moving to the right for the sake of profits. An incremental toe-step to the left every few years is going to lead us to more Trumps while the climate becomes deadly. A summer heat wave could kill millions soon and we're just not preparing for it or preventing it.

Define progress?

I heard an old proverb that said " The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best is now."

MLK’s quote about the moral arc of the universe being long might be more fitting but Tony Benn’s words came to mind instead “There is no final victory, as there is no final defeat. There is just the same battle. To be fought, over & over again. So toughen up, bloody toughen up.”
