Some of us just have issues with unusual or unfamiliar pronunciations. I had a new client who pronounces Colleen different than I've ever heard before, and I'm struggling to get it right all week. People can struggle with names if they've not had exposure to a wide variety.

When I meet someone and they give me an americanized name, I ask if that's their preferred name. And if it isn't I ask what they prefer to be called. If I see a name I don't know how to say, I'll ask the correct pronunciation. And then I practice. Being nice isn't hard.

As a person with a 2 syllable name that no one gets right, including my minister, I can assure you not everyone is being micro aggressive. Some people are just illiterate. And embarrassed about it. Schools taught sight reading instead of teaching phonics. Your name is beautiful.
