Curtis is deeply committed to ending the systemic racism in our criminal justice system and ending police brutality. Because Curtis is truly a Sheriff for the people and not the prison industrial complex, I’m proud to endorse him today.
This past March, Curtis and I called upon Governor Brian Kemp to issue an immediate moratorium on cash bail for low-risk people, the suspension of statewide cooperation with ICE for the duration of the crisis,
and to prepare to release the elderly prison population to protect them and the rest of the public from Covid-19.
It’s this courage, the courage to do things before they are popular locally and nationally that reinforces my confidence in Clemons being the best choice for Sheriff of Gwinnett County.
