As a kid every “vacation” we went on was here. I remember the first time I came to the village. There was no electricity, no running water, the whole village shared one outhouse. We cooked meals over a hole in the ground. I didn’t know such a way of living even existed
My mother survived a war and famine. Her two brothers died because of lack of healthcare. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about this place and what my life could have been. It’s this perspective that has shaped who I am today.
We live in a country that has the tools and resources to help people. I fight everyday because I know we can do better. I know how great we are and how great we can be. Because of that, I’ll never stop fighting for you.
This is an incredible story. Never forget where you came from and you’ll never lose focus on where you’re going. I left GA because far too few people there remember that so it’s refreshing to see you haven’t and are willing to fight because of it. Solidarity from FL
