People do absolutely need more income. The tricky part here though, is finding a way without incentivizing a faster path to automating those jobs. Small businesses will hurt paying more and will cut jobs to stay afloat. UBI is more sustainable and will stimulate the economy. 
We haven’t raised the wage in 10 years.
