Tania was detained in Gwinnett, one of the counties in my district. Gwinnett has the highest number of deportations in GA. Why? Because the sheriff’s office participates in a Federal program called 287(g) that partners with ICE. 2/
This program targets people of color and hurts our community by separating families. It’s is a huge burden on local tax payer dollars. 3/
Only 2% of the counties in the entire country participate in this program. When elected I will work like hell to end 287(g) at the federal level. 4/end
