'Biodiversity Net Gain' in 's proposal for the Western Link road will not be enough to protect the area's wildlife, with bats in particular becoming vulnerable to local extinction. We have raised our concerns directly with the Council. Read more:

This appeal deserves the attention of all those who care about the wildlife and the woods of this country. These very rare bats roost in veteran trees near the River Wensum are under threat from the Norwich Western Link Road

Our winning photo! Taken by Phil Campion in Cheshire. This is a mixture of PRG and tall fescue undersown into maize at the six-leaf stage. You can see that the bare headland is carrying substantially more water, which has especially been an issue this year! Well done Phil! 📸🌽

Behold! The water shrew's fur gives it great buoyancy. It uses a toxic venom to stun it's prey AND it uses 'bubble-sniffing' to sense food! 😮(The European mole also has toxic salvia to paralyse worms in it's burrows!)

👇👇 Ooof. Yes. should be INSISTING on free releases. We don't need trials, we know what they do. One pen doesn't fix an ecosystem. It's not about learning any more, it's about desperate ecological need.

Though they cover only around 6% of the Earth’s land surface, 40% of all plant & animal species live or breed in wetlands. And they are disappearing 3 times faster than forests due to human activities & global heating.

Thought we'd found a thrush's snail smashing spot, but actually could this be watervoles? Perfect surrounding habitat.

A little taste of our Inside Out report tomorrow evening (Monday) at 7.30pm on BBC1 East. We’ll also be looking at the planned ‘Norwich Western Link’, another dual carriageway that will cut through habitat for rare, protected bats. Have NDR lessons been learned?

Bravo Finland 🇫🇮! Huge ambition - going carbon neutral in 15 years. Creating jobs and prosperity through green growth. Exactly the political will the world at large is still missing! 👍👍👍

We simply can’t replace the multitude of responsive engineering techniques that this incredible keystone species can bring to restore our river and wetland ecosystems. Thanks for the candid update !
