Well, that was a fun [but short] run of running stock Prusa firmware. And, FWIW, I like the upcoming changes in 3.9.0. ...tho I think the 'IR sensor is flaky' fixes are a little misguided... ...maybe because I think the problem is something different entirely...
The only possible downside I've run into is in extrusion control: the nozzle oozes, leading to blobs and gaps after moves. This may be due to heater lag: cold filament heating up in the hot zone and expanding. But I haven't nailed down the cause.

Well, if you've pushed the meltzone deep into the nozzle while extruding, things get weird when heat flow catches back up. The printers don't model that.
