I've been meaning to tweet about copper and its anti-viral properties for some time. Coronavirus dies on copper surfaces more than 10 times faster than on stainless steel or plastic surfaces. Its anti-viral (and anti-bacterial) properties have long been known.

Brasso (or any polish/cleaner that leaves a wax or film on the surface) is not recommended for antimicrobial applications, as the wax/film inhibits the contact of microbes with the copper material

Many of the standard clinical cleaning agents are compatible with copper alloys. Oxidation of these alloys does not inhibit their antimicrobial efficacy, studies show.

In both financial and human cost, the cost of HCAIs is enormous. Approx 350 US patients die every day from HCAIs of the approx 35m hospitalised patients per year. Like a plane crash every day.
