That was in vitro. More persuasive is the 2/18/20 paper reporting on 15 clinical trials in 10 hospitals showing efficacy of chloroquine. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/32074550 There is some indication that 2/18/20 was when Chinese cases and deaths peaked. I collated WHO daily data yesterday. In mid-February at exactly this time, there was dramatic change in curvature of Chinese cases. Began tapering off until zero new internal cases at present.pic.twitter.com/pHpESpFncl

Introducing those makeshift hospitals was one of the most crucial methods to fight down this epidemic in China.

I wish that policy-makers in North America would look closely at methods that worked in Wuhan. It's worrying that the most talked about ideas e.g. vaccines, antibodies will all take a year if they hurry.

There's no fundamental reason that those things need to take a year. That's just regulatory sclerosis, which could be overcome by serious political impetus. We'd still need statistics on safety and efficacy, but they wouldn't have to come from the stylized Phase 1, 2, 3 studies.
