No technocratic government would have succeeded against a political class out to undermine its efforts. Nor would it have remained popular as reform imposes harsh austerity measures. Therefore, I’m happy the political class now owns our financial disaster through this cabinet.1
Technocrat is such a vague term that when I hear it, I wonder what people mean. Is the idea to promote Ghosn for president? He's been the head of a car company, which sounds fairly technocratic to me. And he's available! He might have a bit of trouble begging the IMF, though.
