Another day, another damning report implicating Turkey with ISIS. Note: Our rebel program to combat ISIS ran through Turkey and so did ISIS.https://www.longwarjournal.org/archives/2019/11/u-s-designates-isis-supporting-brothers-based-in-turkey.php …

seems to me that turning point in war against ISIS came when Syrian army moving east after liberation of Aleppo from AlQaeda cut off Turkish-backed jihadis moving south at Al-Bab, thus cutting off ISIS supply lines and fuel sales.

Usually the hardest fighting comes at the height of the losing side's power, as in Stalingrad or Gettysburg. One side full of blood and thunder, the other hanging on grimly...then counterstriking. In this case that fighting seems mostly to have been in Iraq, e.g. in Mosul.

This is a pretty politically neutral judgement, since both Iran and the US helped the Iraqis, and the Iraqi army and militias (including Kurds) did the actual bleeding in the Iraq battles. But the Syrian army coming later and stabbing ISIS in the back being the key? Please.

Incidentally, as regards ISIS, this article from several years ago is the most illuminating thing I've encountered: https://www.spiegel.de/international/world/islamic-state-files-show-structure-of-islamist-terror-group-a-1029274.html … Strangely, it seems to be generally ignored: the commentariat neither reference it nor attempt to debunk it.
