The Times Is On It

Because sometimes stories in newspapers are just *that* obvious. (This is a parody account clearly not associated with any newspaper.)

It gets harder to justify giving subscriber money to a newspaper that considers Robby Soave's vaccine misinformation worthy of the lead spot on the Opinions page.

The ed board just wrote the dumbest shit I have ever seen committed to text. You want to know why elite institutions are utterly failing in the face of a white nationalist insurgence? Look no further. Every braindead DC dysfunction, right here.

The Times found a horse trainer who lives in Minnesota and had to do a soft-profile Trump feature on her, while lending credence to all of her conspiracy theory beliefs. How in the world do they keep doing this?

Yesterday the published a piece featuring interviews with, and glossy photoshoots of, multiple neo-Nazis. E.g. below is neo-Nazi Martin Sellner, who had direct ties to the Christchurch shooter. At what point can we call this journalistic malpractice?

Since the NYT is back to running fluff pieces on far-right extremists, I'll re-share what I wrote in WaPo in 2017 when the Times ran a glowing profile of a straight-up neo-Nazi.

Early days of the Biden presidency & so far the NY Times has written a piece about his peleton bike, watch, & fired an editor at the behest of a right wing outrage machine for expressing emotion at a peaceful transition of power after an insurrection. Make of it what you will.

Jay's law: all news reports about "dueling realities" that ask "why are we so divided?" should instead be framed as: how did the Republican Party and its supporters wind up here? Then you can talk about dwelling in different worlds. via

Rudy Giuliani was a major player in a months'-long effort to undermine American democracy and encourage a coup. He's still lying about the election. The Times: He's "unrestrained."

I don't think ABC News knows why it participates in election denialism this way. (People who follow me say ratings, I doubt the ratings would change at all if the Big Lie came off the board.) But there's no question that Rand Paul knows why he does it:

The NY Times seems to think that firing a contract editor for an anodyne tweet will make the people it calls "conservatives" (more accurately, extremists) respect the organization. Much more likely, it will amplify their disrespect, the way bullies always react to weakness.
