As you may know, on 5/29/2020, I was pepper-sprayed & arrested while attending a protest at the Barclays Center. I am currently suing the NYPD in federal court around this event, but concurrently, a CCRB complaint was filed (not by me) and the process just concluded. 🧵: 1/17

I certainly won’t.

So we are all just going to forget that certain local NYC journalists wrote articles saying LaSalle was being railroaded by “the left” and racists when in actuality NAACP, NOW, AFL-CIO, 160+ other orgs and the majority of Senate Democrats didn’t want him?

New York is a union town! Love to see labor coalescing to support organizing for healthy workplaces, including in legislators’ own offices. Unions have your back ✊🏽💜

Today, the @NYSAFLCIO, regional labor federations, & 21 labor unions representing workers in the public sector, private sector, & building trades issued a statement in support of our efforts. To any staffers thinking about signing a card, NY’s labor movement has your back. #1u

No one's gonna take your gas stove. We want clean air and clean energy-fueled homes. New Yorkers are in Albany today demanding a #GasFreeNY to fight childhood asthma & climate disasters. We can't afford to wait: nydailynews.com/opinion/ny-ope

@EmilyAssembly is the prime assembly sponsor of #GasFreeNY bill to end gas in new construction. She’s pointing out that ridiculous right wing culture war has started because blue states must and are MOVING to end fossil fuels in new buildings. That also saves money. Let’s go!

Happy #LunarNewYear to New Yorkers who started celebrating this weekend! 2023 is the Year of the Rabbit, which elevates the values of peace, prosperity, and abundance. May you receive a lot of good fortune, good health, and good luck in the new year.

Senator did her homework before voting on this nominee. NYers expect legislators to provide checks & balances to the judicial branch given its growing impact on our rights. As Latino leaders, we must empower our community w/ representation that upholds our NY values

New Yorkers are paying attention to how government works. I couldn’t be prouder — and I’m listening.

Thinking of the people killed and injured yesterday night in Monterey Park while celebrating #LunarNewYear. No other country in the world suffers constant mass shootings and it’s because too many states allow unfettered access to guns. We can’t be ok with this much hate and loss.

As I told , I'm not worried abt rich NYers leaving NYC, it’s been their playground long enough. Now it’s time to pay up bc they benefit from our communities, infrastructure & work We're doing this across the country #FundOurFuture

Yesterday, we passed 10 bills through the first Health Committee meeting of 2023. Proud to move bills to expand EPIC coverage to help senior NYers afford their prescriptions & to ensure children on Medicaid don't face any gap in healthcare coverage during the first 3 yrs of life.

The are focused on making a difference in NYers’ lives. No one should risk their lives rationing insulin bc insurance & pharma companies want profits, so we’re capping patient costs at $30 per month. Healthcare should be guaranteed, not commodified #InsulinForAll
Quote Tweet
The Democratic-led state Senate today is expected to take up a package of affordability-related measures this week, with a focus on prescription drug costs today. Measures include provisions to cap insulin costs.

Why are you fighting so hard for a conservative, anti-choice, anti-labor, former prosecutor, widely opposed by your party & voters, to be the most powerful judge in New York State? Who are you doing this for?
Quote Tweet
Judge LaSalle has pursued fairness and justice throughout his career, and he deserves the same as the State Senate considers his nomination. I nominated Judge LaSalle because I know his experience and vision for the court will expand justice for all New Yorkers.

Whatever consulting firm(s) is advising the Governor and her allies in this disastrous nomination fight doesn't exactly have an accurate read on Democratic politics in New York State in 2023. And I'm not talking about the left, folks. Not at all. #OutOfTouch

What’s the thinking behind publicly insulting the very Dem votes one needs (but doesn’t have) to pass a controversial judicial candidate…? is a champion for our Latine community and leader on single payer healthcare. Cuomo-style bullying isn’t gonna fly here.

I am dismayed by Senator @LuisSepulvedaNY’s remarks at a press conference on the Governor’s Chief Judge nomination. I did not expect a colleague to call me out without attempting to reach out to me directly about our difference in opinion. This is a cynical attempt to attack 1/

Cada líder debe trabajar para empoderar a los neoyorquinos y crear coaliciones que midan el éxito por el impacto y la integridad, no por la identidad. Hay muchos líderes latinos fenomenales que caminaron para que yo pudiera correr 5/

Every leader must work to empower New Yorkers & build coalitions that measure success by impact and integrity, not identity. So many phenomenal Latino leaders walked so I could run. That being said, I cannot support any nominee on the sole basis that they are a fellow Latino. 4/4
