    As we begin celebrating , we honor the life and legacy of Samuel Battle, who became our first black police officer in 1911. He didn't stop there though as he continued to rise through the ranks, becoming a Lieutenant, and eventually Parole Commissioner in 1941.

    Officers throughout the city play an active role in reducing the number of overdose deaths by carrying naloxone. Recently Officer Dones & Detective Weddell from the successfully reversed an overdose & saved the unresponsive woman's life.

    🚨WANTED for ROBBERY: On 1/29, at 11:10 PM, inside the Fulton St subway station, a 26-year-old male was approached by a group of unknown individuals who punched him, and sprayed him with pepper spray before removing his property. Call or DM at 800-577-TIPS.

    As this winter storm continues, a state of emergency and local travel restrictions have been put into effect. All non-essential travel is restricted. New Yorkers are being encouraged to stay off the roads and stay home for their safety and well-being.

    While responding to a domestic incident, officers from quickly responded to the scene, arrested the individual, & safely removed these dangerous guns off the streets. Their investigation likely prevented further violence in an already dangerous situation.

    A major winter storm will hit us TONIGHT at 7 PM. We could see as much as 14-16 inches. We expect the snow to continue through to Tuesday morning. and are commencing snow operations immediately. Plows and salt spreaders are ready to roll.

    On 9/11, Sgt William Brautigam was a recruit in our Police Academy when he, & thousands of others, answered the call. Today, nearly 20 yrs later, we lost him to illness stemming from his work that day & in the weeks & months after. We will William — another .

    Transit ATU officers patrolling a Bronx subway line shortly after midnight were alerted to a knifepoint robbery. A thorough search of a nearby 6-train turned up the 19-year-old suspect, who have determined is tied to another knifepoint robbery from last year.

    A recent traffic stop developed quickly as marijuana smoke was detected coming from the vehicle & this illegally-possessed gun was found on 1 of the passengers, who happened to be a gang member — NO car stop is ever “routine.” Outstanding work by Public Safety Team.
