That's a lot of black Labradors in between the Malinois and GermanShepherdish looking dog. Anything specific to them that makes them so suitable as police K9? (honest curiosity here)

Labs have amazing sense of smell which could be one reason the NYPD would train them. They make great search and rescue dogs as well. But the truth is, any dog with drive to learn and want to please their handler make amazing police dogs.
