In 2018, we’ve seen neighborhoods across all 5 boroughs build stronger relationships with their local police. This, in turn, helped drive down crime in NYC to its lowest point in history. Here is some recent press coverage on how we made NYC the safest big city in the country:

@NYPDnews i'm just troubled by the significant rise in rapes in nyc -
& i don't think it's because of the increase in reporting acquaintance assaults.. these are violent, random stranger attacks

The homeless r out of control. Y do we NEVER see a uniformed officer ON the trains. Like 1 in 20 years

Because its completely out of their jurisdiction. Its MTA’s Dept. Let’s not forget LEOs have assigned locations to STAY in for up to 12 hours, so they can’t jump on a train and end up in another Bureau. The MTA would need to explicitly invite and have assigned LEOs to trains.
