I don't understand the purpose of

I made joke at a workplace of mine that it would be funny and awful if someone went to work wearing a sweater(&forgetting it was Ugly Sweater Day) and someone thought they were complimenting them by saying, "Wow..you picked out a good one for today..etc."

Or, think about if someone wore a GIFT instead of a sweater THEY picked out and later were showing friends and family the photos, and that person who gave the gift saw they wore THEIR sweater for Ugly Sweater Day. I think they should have a "Goofy Dress Day,"&can pick ANYTHING.
