UPDATE (1/3): At approx 6:08pm, plainclothes officers were in the vicinity of West 183 St and Loring Pl in the #Bronx. They observed an individual running in their direction, wearing a mask over his face and carrying a back pack. Watch remarks by @nypdchiefofdept

UPDATE (2/3): As one of the officers approached the individual, the suspect suddenly displays a firearm and shoots at him while at that location. At that point, the officer gives chase after the suspect on foot, down Loring Place, exchanging gunfire with the suspect.
