NJ bail reform is working out so far because judges have discretion. in NYS the politicians took ALL discretion away from judges which are ILLEGAL and plain stupid.

Agreed. Automatic release for non-felony violence charges might not be so prudent. The principal idea to minimize the racial effects of incarceration in lieu of bail is a good thing but al little more thought will help reduce the incidences of what we are seeing
