Thanks to S.I. Community Board 3’s Land Use Committee for voting unanimously in favor of South Richmond Zoning Relief! This plan will ease zoning burdens on homeowners, enhance preservation of natural features, & give the community greater say on larger, more sensitive sites.

🚨Breaking news🚨 approved a proposal that aims to bring a new residential project with over 330 homes, a new supermarket, and a community facility to Allerton, The Bronx. Located near the 2/5 train, it’s a fantastic example of transit-oriented development.

This great announcement on Broadway Junction adds to and supports the East New York Neighborhood Plan, which includes income-restricted homes, improved parks and streets, a new school, and much more.

At the start of the meeting though, the CPC will vote on a few items, including new, ADA accessible office space for , a new commercial building in Auburndale, & an authorization for a new playground, bioswales, & vegetated areas at PS 005 in Huguenot, SI.

The Commission will also hold a public hearing on the expansion of York Studios, expanding the TV & film production to Soundview, The Bronx, adding ~280 jobs and creating new open space along the Bronx River waterfront and connection to Soundview Park. on.nyc.gov/3HI3sdD

Besides “Eds and Meds,” the CPC will discuss what it heard at last month’s public hearings for two Queens projects – a 100% affordable, resilient building with over 100 homes in Bayswater, & a demapping of a portion of 43rd Ave in Bayside to make an existing retaining wall legal.

These residents, along with other New Yorkers who live and work on the peninsula, also now have access to Astoria’s waterfront and the area’s first full-service, FRESH supermarket. It’s projects like this one that show the importance of long-term planning.
