If you can, please listen to Det. Dan McNally, P.O. Mark DeMarco and P.O. Bill Beaury tell their story of survival-& the story of the heroes who didn't come home. This is very hard to watch but it is important we keep telling these stories

"If you had a skill, you brought it,” [Lynch] said. “Police officers are working-class people, it's just that we have that same process in us and we bring what we know to the table. And that table became pretty big with everybody's skill.”

. PO Will Jimeno and his partner John McLoughlin were the last cops to emerge alive from the rubble of the WTC. The hands that pulled them out were members of NYPD ESU Truck 1. Yesterday, Jimeno came to Truck 1 to express his appreciation to his brothers.

The 20th anniversary is almost behind us. Some will say “It’s time to move on.” Some were saying it just weeks after the towers fell. For those we lost, for their families, for those who suffer still, 9/11 is not over. We’ll be back to tell their story tomorrow.

Our mission, today and into the future, is to tell the story to the next generation. Some are already following in the footsteps of heroes. But for the rest, the message is simple: for the heroes of 9/11 and their families, there was no September 12th.

In honor of all our sisters and brothers of the NYPD who ran towards the Twin Towers 20 years ago today, and stayed for the next 8 months at Ground Zero and elsewhere, who continue to make the ultimate sacrifice.
