NEW: @nycHealthy is implementing the COVID Safety Requirement starting August 2. This means all of our clinic-based staff — doctors, social workers, custodians and registrars — will have to show proof of vaccination or a weekly negative #COVID19 test. 🧵

Because of the Delta variant, increasingly the choice is between INFECTION or VACCINATION. That can mean the difference between life and death. Vaccination has been, and continues to be, the single most important precaution we can take to interact w/the public and our colleagues.

The path to NYC’s recovery runs through vaccination. The simple fact is that if you’re vaccinated, virtually every activity is safer. Our processes must reflect the mission and the responsibility to promote the health of our City, staff, colleagues — and the public we serve.

We are planning to extend the COVID Safety Requirement to additional @nycHealthy staff in the weeks ahead. However, this mission is not ours alone. We urge other institutions, particularly health care organizations, to consider similar steps to ensure their staff are vaccinated.

What took you so long? And why no vaccinations happening at summer school- or are they? Will there be vaccination buses at the Central Park concert?

In the face of Delta, I think this should go for gyms, restaurants and theaters too. I still can’t go to a gym (high risk)Bc my DH has comorbidities and I don’t want to risk delta. Theaters could go to 100% capacity w vaccinated ppl. And vaccinated ppl can eat indoors safely.

Weekly COVID test? not that great - you can get COVID the day after the test and not find out for 7 days??? Scary

I think with a 5-8 day incubation, every 7 days may cover it, considering when you can transmit, I guess it just depends when you test positive...I can’t handle that kind of math though.
