Trying to be more mindful? Commit to taking one mindful breath a day. Simply pay attention to your breath. If you have trouble paying attention, just notice your thoughts, without judging them. Let them go and return your attention to your breath:

  6. This team includes mental health professionals, to help people manage the damage that is less visible, but no less devastating. Too many Puerto Ricans are experiencing emotional distress that, without attention, can last long after a house is rebuilt.

  8. If you haven't already, sign up to join your local NOCC and help make sure your neighborhood is fully counted. It can be as easy as phone-banking, canvassing, or even hosting your own teach-in for your friends, family, and neighbors.

  14. Two weeks ago, I learned something I never knew about my own family’s history. My father was a Buffalo Soldier! I have a picture of him in his uniform — he enlisted when he was 18, younger than our son Dante is now.

  17. I’m thrilled to see young people using their power to fight for more mental health support. This is the kind of determination and enthusiasm that will get people the care they need. Our federal government could learn a thing or two from them.
