    Umbrella alert: Trying to race the rain ? You're just about out of time. Steady rain settles in for NYC between 7:15 and 7:30pm. It will ease by 10pm. Downpours could cause flash flooding.

    As expected a Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 10 PM. Beginning around 7 PM scattered strong and severe thunderstorms are possible, with wind, lightning and the potential for hail.

    Had enough ? 9 straight dry days in NYC. Passing storms Wednesday night and soaking rains Friday will settle the dust.

    Update: Staying cool and dry tonight. Milder and brighter on Tuesday. Spring heat again Wednesday with spot storms. Washout for Friday. Cool Saturday with some showers.

    Plan on a mild and dry Friday in NYC. The weekend brings spring heat. Watch for a spot storm late Saturday afternoon. On Sunday night, passing showers and storms are likely.
