There is NO tsunami threat for the Gulf of Mexico or eastern United States from the 7.7 earthquake in the Caribbean near Cuba and Jamaica. Per National Tsunami Warning Center.

How long after an earthquake do tsunamis typically present?

It's relative to where you are in relation to the quake. This one appears to have been at a depth that did not generate a significant tsunami.
