    A deepening marine layer will bring the chance for patchy drizzle Monday morning across the coastal areas, especially the coastal slopes and foothills. This may make for a slippery and wet morning commute to start the work week. Be sure to allot some extra time!

    We know we say this a lot but it is crucial to remind you that elevated fire weather conditions will continue through Monday mainly for the Antelope Valley and higher elevations. It will be very dry and windy combined with unseasonably dry fuels. Stay alert!

    An extended period of elevated fire weather conditions is expected to continue for interior areas through Monday, mainly for the higher elevations and Antelope Valley. It will be very dry with minimum humidity ranging from 10 to 15 percent, and also windy with gusts up to 30 to 50 mph. Fuels are unseasonably dry at this time, and receptive to igniting easily and growing rapidly. Do your part to prevent wildfires by avoiding any potential source of fire.

    Gusty were occurring at 11am across the Antelope Valley foothills and nearby desert areas. Strongest gusts included 40 mph at Leona Valley, 41 mph at Johnson Rd, and 50 mph at Lake Palmdale. Blowing dust is possible in the area.

    Wind advisory issued for the Antelope Valley valid Sunday afternoon/evening impacting Hwys 14 and 138. Wind gusts up to 45 mph expected, except isolated gusts up to 55 mph in the foothills. Potential reduced visibilities in blowing dust.

    These stats are so eyebrow-raising that I would assume they were a data error expect for extreme drought in this region. Sierra Nevada vegetation flammability now appears to be at *all-time* record levels...not just for calendar date, but for any time of year.

    About a week since the Sierra snowpack hit 0% statewide, Central/Southern Sierra fuel moistures (ERC and 1000 hr fuels) are nearly off the charts in terms of dryness, well above max values.

    UPDATE: The fire at the Cuesta Grade is now 35% contained and is being held at 20 acres. All assisting aircraft were dismissed from the scene.

    We are expecting a deep marine layer to develop on Monday with an upper low coming in. As a result, a big cool down is in store for the interior. High temps will be 5 to 10 (maybe more) degrees cooler than Sunday with highs in the 70s and possibly touching 80.

    An extended period of elevated fire weather conditions is expected to continue for interior areas through Monday, including the interior valleys, mountains, and deserts. It will be hot and dry during this time over the interior, with high temperatures in the 80s to near 90 degrees through Sunday, then cooling on Monday. Minimum humidities will range between 10 and 20 percent. The warmest and driest conditions are expected to be in the Antelope Valley. Fuels are unseasonably dry at this time, and receptive to igniting easily and growing rapidly. Do your part to prevent wildfires by avoiding any potential source of fire.

    The most representative weather near the would indicate a temperature near 72 degrees with humidity 45-50 percent. Winds are SW 5-10 with gusts 20 mph on the surrounding ridges.

    The is not behaving early this morning. The eddy circulation is moving west, pulling the low clouds away from the valleys to the coast. The eddy can reorganize and possibly push clouds back into the valleys
