    NHC has initiated advisories on Potential Tropical Cyclone Five in the central Atlantic. It is forecast to become a tropical storm tomorrow before moving through the Caribbean this weekend. It is too early to determine whether SE TX or SW LA will see any impacts. ~ Donald

    Showers and thunderstorms possible in the afternoon and evening today and tomorrow as a convergence boundary will likely form near the coast with daytime heating. Highs will be in the upper 80s to low 90s. Partly cloudy skies expected overnight with lows in the 70s.

    The subtropical ridge over the Atlantic will keep southerly flow off the gulf going. Deep moisture and heating will keep rain chances in the forecast. The subtropical ridge over the Atlantic will also steer several tropical waves toward the Caribbean.

    High pressure over the Atlantic will continue to ridge into the area. This will will keep deep moisture pushing into our area. Periods of showers and thunderstorms can be expected today and tomorrow. Atlantic high pressure will steer several disturbances towards the states.

    A weakening upper low moving west across the northern gulf will continue to bring deep moisture and troughs spinning westward across our area. This will produce showers and thunderstorms and periods of heavy rain. Rainfall rates could be 1 to 2 inches per hour at times.

    The sea breeze front will move slowly north across the area bringing showers and thunderstorms today into the early evening. An easterly wave will move westward from East Louisiana bringing higher rain chances for Sunday.

    Tonight, partly cloudy with lows in the mid to upper 70s, 80 near the coast. South wind 5 to 10 MPH. Thursday, scattered showers and thunderstorms developing during the afternoon. High in the low to mid 90s. Heat index values near 105 areawide. Southerly winds near 10 MPH.

    Scattered rain/storm chances today and tomorrow as a stationary boundary lifts out of the area. Highs in the low to mid 90s, with heat index values up to 105 - some higher values possible! Make sure to take breaks in the shade and drink plenty of water!
