Not only do you have to content with snow covered roads, but also bitter cold temperatures and wind chills this morning.
6am wind chills are the lowest over northwest and north central Iowa and this is where a wind chill advisory remains in effect until late this morning. #iawx

Prime example why you should give yourself distance around snow plows. I dropped down to 20mph here and hoped I was still going straight once the snow cleared. HWY 69 near Blairsburg, IA. Some drifting occurring along highways in this region. #iawx

Snowfall will be the most persistent over the northern half of the state today.
The worst conditions will be this morning over northern Iowa with the highest snowfall rates and visibility as low as a half a mile due to a combination of falling and blowing snow.

Scattered snow showers and wintry mixes are moving across the state early this morning.
While they will not amount to much snow in total (inch or less), they may be enough to cause some sporadic travel hazards on your morning drive. #iawx

Temperatures plunge next week, but on this day in 2002 many places in Iowa set all-time January temperature records:
Webster City - 72
Rockwell City - 70
Ames - 67
Waterloo - 65
Oelwein - 64
Des Moines reached 65, a record for that date but not an all-time January record. #iawx

2 rounds of snow on the way!
1️⃣ Late tonight into Fri AM light snow may result in slick roads and patchy blowing snow for the morning commute.
2️⃣ Widespread snow Sat w/ a band of moderate totals (this may shift, stay tuned). Patchy blowing snow may complicate travel.
