    Thunderstorms are sometimes underestimated as a serious weather threat, but they can be deadly. Strong winds can turn ordinary objects into dangerous projectiles, and lightning can strike up to 10 miles away from a storm.

  10. A Watch has been issued until 12 AM EDT for portions of western and southwest . Storms moving from the western Carolinas into southwest VA may be capable of tornadoes as well as hail and damaging winds.

    A couple of strong to severe storms are possible over the next 1-3 hours across western SC/NC/VA. A tornado and isolated strong gusts are the main hazards possible with this activity in the short term.

  12. An upper-level ridge building into the western region will lead to unseasonably warm temperatures 10 to 20 degrees F above normal through Sunday, with nearly 100 locations forecast to approach or exceed record highs by the end of the weekend. 🌞

  13. A Watch has been issued for southeast , far northeast , western , & far southwest until 10 PM EDT tonight. While tornadoes will be the primary concern, storms that develop will also be capable of severe hail & wind gusts up to 70 mph.

    If you lost power from the severe weather this week, remember that generators can cause dangerous hazards like fire or carbon monoxide poisoning. 👉 Tips: Place your generator outside. Keep them dry and well grounded. Never plug them into a wall outlet or main electrical panel.
