Last year, a severe flash flood impacted the small town of Eugowra, destroying homes, businesses and even the local #NSWRFS station. Last week, $1 million worth of funding was announced to rebuild the station on higher ground, so the brigade can continue to serve their community.

The Wearnes Rd Fire at Bundarra in the Gwydir LGA has now been brought under control. Thanks to the efforts of firefighters from #NSWRFS, NPWS and Forestry Corp the fire which burnt through 2220 hectares is now contained. Crews remain on scene mopping up & extinguishing hotspots.

Today, Emergency Services Minister and NSW RFS Commissioner travelled to Eugowra to announce the town’s Rural Fire Brigade station, which was destroyed by severe flash floods in November 2022, will be replaced with a new $1 million facility. #NSWRFS

#NSWRFS supported by aircraft continue work on the Wearnes Rd Fire, burning 45km SW of Inverell. The fire has burnt 1800ha and is burning on farmland but not threatening homes. Overnight smoke is expected to drift south across Manilla and Tamworth.
