@CanberraDSN will soon start a 155 minute high-power XMIT at the Best Lock Frequency. This transmission will extend my command loss timer expiration until December to allow for work to be done on the 70-m dish.pic.twitter.com/km61RHQllF

Remember that you’re measuring from a moving platform: Earth. At certain times of the year, Earth will ‘catch up’ with us & actually gain ground for a while! This might help:pic.twitter.com/W5rq51z6qW

None of that is ‘classified’: the parts come from many different suppliers: Fairchild, GE, Harris, Hewlett-Packard, Honeywell, National, RCA, etc. What you’re probably focusing on r the processors: RCA 4000 series CMOS. here’s the Command & Control Subsystem:pic.twitter.com/WOSpJjK9XB

What the article author misinterpreted was that the Fortran-5, -77, and C routines all run on two Sun workstations on Earth, at JPL, shown below. Onboard, everything runs in modified assembler. There simply isn’t enough memory to run a compiler.pic.twitter.com/AxLgWggmdh

@NASAVoyager: Here’s the skinny: I went to do a roll to calibrate my magnetometer, overdrew power & tripped software designed to automatically protect the spacecraft. My power state is good and instruments are back on. Resuming science soon. http://go.nasa.gov/38O37mC pic.twitter.com/QmvZLcl8I3

@airandspace: On Dec 24, 1968, Apollo 8 astronauts broadcast a msg from lunar orbit 4 the world. They read the first 10 verses of Genesis, & concluded: "Good night, good luck, a Merry Christmas -- & God bless all of you, all of you on the good Earth."pic.twitter.com/IzKuCxnMsc
