DSN antenna DSS-43 will soon start a 155 minute high-power XMIT at the Best Lock Frequency. This transmission will extend my command loss timer expiration until December to allow for work to be done on the 70-m dish.

Remember that you’re measuring from a moving platform: Earth. At certain times of the year, Earth will ‘catch up’ with us & actually gain ground for a while! This might help:

None of that is ‘classified’: the parts come from many different suppliers: Fairchild, GE, Harris, Hewlett-Packard, Honeywell, National, RCA, etc. What you’re probably focusing on r the processors: RCA 4000 series CMOS. here’s the Command & Control Subsystem:

What the article author misinterpreted was that the Fortran-5, -77, and C routines all run on two Sun workstations on Earth, at JPL, shown below. Onboard, everything runs in modified assembler. There simply isn’t enough memory to run a compiler.

Via : Here’s the skinny: I went to do a roll to calibrate my magnetometer, overdrew power & tripped software designed to automatically protect the spacecraft. My power state is good and instruments are back on. Resuming science soon.
