I don’t understand why the NRA would be against universal background checks. If the goal is to keep firearms out of the hands of criminals and there’s no check for that then WTF is their solution? Hand guns out to everyone and let god sort em out hasn’t been working so well.

Because their ACTUAL goal is unfettered sales of firearms. They are the lobbying arm of gun manufacturers masquerading as a sportsman’s organization that promotes gun “rights.”
