Iran's ex-president is not really on Kaepernick’s side. His underlying message puts him on Trump’s side. In effect he is saying, “See? You Americans punish dissent, too.”

When you scribble the president’s remarks so fast this is what you wind up with.

  4. In a way, the op-ed amounts to pro-administration messaging: “Don’t worry, we know he’s off his rocker but we’re on that and don’t forget the tax cuts.”

  5. This is quite a read. Alleges there were “whispers” within the Cabinet of using the 25th Amendment to remove the president, but key aides felt it better to let him think he is president.

With 99% of precincts reporting results, Ayanna Pressley has beaten Congressman Capuano by 18 points. 18 points is huge. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I didn’t see a single poll that even gave her a shot at victory.

Puzzled why the culprit here is identified as "Twitter" when it describes a de facto strike by festival talent and pushback from Remnick's employees and contractors, all of whom wield very real economic power over Remnick's plans. This is a labor story.

WH press shop asking former officials to renounce Woodward book, one former WH staffer turned them down telling me: “Kelly has always made it clear behind the President’s back that he’s Trump’s babysitter.. He should just have the guts to own it” w/

“In a decade of reporting on and visiting Iran, I had missed Ahmadinejad’s interest in American football ... He responded to criticism by changing the subject." Tweeting about Kaepernick, argues, is Ahmadinejad's effort at distraction:

I say this as a marathoner: the main “character” thing we all have in common, aside from running long distances, is being insufferable in talking about it.

The attacks today on my wife are repulsive. Everyone tweeting this vicious conspiracy theory should be ashamed of themselves. We weren’t even familiar with the hateful symbol being attributed to her for the random way she rested her hand during a long hearing. 1/3

It may seem odd that a leading politician would demand attention by writing on Twitter about matters that don’t seem to concern him, but surprisingly, there are occasional parallels between Iran and the United States.

Reminded of a Churchill quote today: "Words are the only things that last forever... words spoken two or three thousand years ago remain with us now, not as mere relics of the past, but... leaping across the gulf of ages, they light the world for us today."

Woodward book, in scenes with Cohn trying to explain trade deficits and the service economy to Trump, answers the question ppl always ask about Trump. "Hasn't anyone told him that XYZ is not true?" Yes, ppl often do. It has no impact on his existing thinking.

So far, there seems to be a lot more guessing in the White House of who talked to Woodward than disputing any of his reporting. Lot of people went to his townhouse/met him off campus/spent multiple hours or even days with the author.

Two of Trump’s advisers have referred to him as Chauncey Gardner over last two years. This book goes another step toward that point.
