The statements partly substantiate some of the claims in the document released by Avenatti, which also alleges a number of what it calls suspicious payments to Cohen, including by Russian billionaire Viktor Vekselberg.

Avenatti has alleged that the payments Cohen acknowledged making to Daniels might have been reimbursed by Vekselberg. NPR has not verified details of the payment.
