AT&T confirmed that it hired a company established by President Trump’s longtime attorney, Michael Cohen, to gain access to "insight" about Trump, @relucasz reports.

"Essential Consultants was one of several firms we engaged in early 2017 to provide insights into understanding the new administration. They did no legal or lobbying work for us, and the contract ended in December 2017," AT&T said in a statement.
Another corporate client of Cohen’s mentioned in the file, pharmaceutical titan Novartis, said that any relationship it had with Cohen also has now ended.
The statements partly substantiate some of the claims in the document released by Avenatti, which also alleges a number of what it calls suspicious payments to Cohen, including by Russian billionaire Viktor Vekselberg.
Avenatti has alleged that the payments Cohen acknowledged making to Daniels might have been reimbursed by Vekselberg. NPR has not verified details of the payment.
