JUST IN: The death toll from a mass shooting in the West Texas cities of Midland and Odessa has risen to 8, Odessa Mayor David Turner confirms to NPR. That number includes the gunman.

President Trump, taking questions from the White House Sunday, described the event as "tragic" and the shooter as “another very sick person.” He said that it did not change anything in terms of what the administration is looking at in terms of potential gun control measures.
