Beautiful & so generous of folks to do this, but I wish they wouldn't. If people saw overflowing trash bins & filthy bathrooms, they'd realize just how vital the "non-essential" govt employees are.
-
So instead of fixing the problem by people’s own accord and voluntarily benefitting the parks, you’re suggesting we let the parks go to shit and wait for the government to save us? Do you see how counterproductive that is? I bet you believe free college is actually free.
-
Yup. Laura wants to make sure people are conned into believing these people are essential.
-
* The People are essential. Stealing from others to give them money for something people will do voluntarily is not essential.

Because, the National Parks belong to all of us. Glad there are folks helping to care for our home. Hope this continues after the gov shut down.

Open but unstaffed? But the Obama presidency taught me that a shutdown meant we can't go to parks. Where are the barricades and government employees strong-arming citizens?

Just because thngs have always been done by the state, doesn’t mean it needs to be done by government...Give citizens a chance!?
-
The people who were being employed by the parks are also citizens. Are you paying their rent? Give them a chance!
-
50%+ of the people employed by the government are superfluous and are are paid with money earned by American citizens, forcibly confiscated by the state (tax dollars)...I would prefer these folks secure employment in the private sector and contribute to our nation’s spending!?
-
Where'd you get that 50% superfluous rate from?
-
2.1 million federal employees (not including postal Svc, which is pd separately), 800,000 “nonessential”, plus likelihood that some “essential” are superfluous...could easily be 50%. Wow, I’m actually surprised by that. Sad!
-
Nonessential doesn’t mean not needed.
-
Nonessential means “not needed” when our nation is $22T+ in debt with $80T+ in unfunded mandates less than 20 years away?!?!

How did they afford the tax cut for the top 1%?
