We did this for our town library when I was in elementary school and I thought it was the coolest thing ever! I remember that dat clearly and it was 30 years ago!

The proper way to run a human conveyor is 2 rows facing each other staggered by a body width. That way you're facing the people you are getting the item from and giving it to, it allows eye contact & your body motion is more natural - you only turn within a 90 degree arc not 180.
