Eliminating or reducing aid to El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras would make just the smallest of dents in the overall foreign assistance budget of the U.S.https://n.pr/2ObyVHf

If you are an American and don't like people coming "uninvited to your door"... why should The USA receive thousands of people without going through Our Legal System, when Millions of Americans are Patiently Waiting In Line?https://twitter.com/FAIRImmigration/status/886051398458023937 …

NO, refugees are handled by the UN and do not qualify for the status. They have turned down asylum in Mexico, openly saying that they want American wages and benefits. This means that we do not have to admit them per international law, although we may if we choose. No, thanks.

No matter how small you think the cash, it can be shifted to Social Security and Medicare to help Americans.

Want to decrease the caravan and the number of people fleeing their country? How about helping to improve conditions in their home countries so they aren't forced to run for their lives???

How about putting the responsibility of fixing problems on the folks who live there? Unlimited perpetual aid creates dependence not results.

Aid to these countries was already reduced 40% & total reduction will be about 70%. These countries will become more unstable, people more desperate, flight more imperative, & US immigration problems more complex & expensive. Would be nice if we had a functional State Department.

expanding aid by doubling the current amount would reduce the local strain and keep these folks in their homes and places of origin-if that's a critical mission. The point being, more you spend on a military budget and the less you spend on diplomacy, the more suffering you create

It's not about the money. It's about respect for the rule of law and the right of Americans to choose who may or may not live here.

Is amazing the level of ignorance some Americans choose to live with ...learn some facts and history before making your mind about what to believe..US has gain a lot by “assisting” financially all Central America. It just never gets distributed to those in need

I’m an NPR fan but I can’t help but ask, why is this article/statement relevant or even logical? It says nothing about the issue of people from Cent. and South Am. wanting to move to USA. It also highlights USA’s PROFOUND financial contribution to everyone on Earth! Thxs!!!?

Well, if their governments want the money, all they have to do is stop the flood of migrants leaving for El Norte. Btw, they are turning down the offer of Mexico to grant them asylum. Apparently, they think the pay and benefits are better in the US.
