our troops should refuse. I understand the chain of command, but edicts coming from a demonstrably crazed leader should be rebuffed

So, these folks have yet (approx) 1100 miles to walk and they're sending troops on October 30? The average is 25 mpd, which means the fastest wouldn't make it to the Brownsville border for around 44 days. Which would be around December 8th. Longer if they're heading to Cali. $$$

This is blatant, and maybe illegal, use of the military. If this situation required that kind of intervention (which it doesn’t appear to), the National Guard is the appropriate force to use.

It may come as a surprise to you but the military’s main purpose is to maintain our borders.

It's going to be a bloodbath and Trump and his followers will be as happy as anything I hope the Troops refuse to participate

Blood bath? Just because we’re sending our troops doesn’t mean they are going to execute them. Get real.

Hopefully with live ammo. First a verbal warning. If ignored a shot in the air. If that does not work, shoot to kill.

If those troops attack/slaughter the migrants then I think we'll soon be entering WWIII. The world will not sit quietly and tolerate genocide.

Sending hundreds of troops to the border to intercept the migrants is an act of aggression. Trump worships Andrew "Trail of Tears" Jackson & will want to be seen taking a hard line on this issue. To think this won't end in bloodshed is naive.

Oh, I don’t think it won’t end in bloodshed, but I do think the world will “sit quietly and tolerate geonocied”. In fact, and this is the tragedy I was referring to, its pretty much business as usual.

And I thought I was cynical! Either way, it's gonna be horrible.
