This comes as a caravan of migrants is traveling north through Mexico toward the U.S.

The Department of Homeland Security requested the troops, which will include engineers, military police and support personnel. About 2,100 National Guardsmen are already on the border.

I worked with refugees for two years in Africa. Let me tell you two things: 1) None want to leave their homes: they are forced to by war or poverty. 2) After their long exodus, they are sick, exhausted, malnourished and despairing. They need food and water, not guns and bullets. https://twitter.com/AP/status/1055473643046748160 …

IDK that we do. DV was a natural born leader, a great warrior, loyal to a fault, committed to his friends, a work horse, made decisions to benifit the greater good of the Republic (and later the Empire), passionately in love with one woman. Who in gov now does that sound like?😂

The Darth Vader I remember wasn't that at all. Nowhere in this country do we see a leader with those qualities. Nowhere. What have we become? My ancestors who helped build this nation must be rolling in their graves.

Please go watch Star Wars again (yeah, you’ll need to watch the first 6, sorry for that) and for look at Anakin/Vader and tell me he doesn’t have those traits. My point was the same, no one in the current leadership has those traits. Smh missed my sarcasm on that one didn’t you

The Posse Comitatus Act prevents US troops from enforcing laws on US soil. They will have to serve in support roles and cannot arrest anyone. Bush did this at some point, o think.

Read it again... This is preventing an invasion, not police activity. The national borders fall SQUARELY within the authority of the Commander-in-Chief.

Padavan v. United States, 82 F.3d 23 [2d Cir. 1996] (discussing illegal immigration and defining invasion "it must be exposed to armed hostility from another political entity, such as another state or foreign country that is intending to overthrow the state's government."

I have. Many times. I'm a lawyer, it comes up from time to time. No where in the Constitution is "invasion" defined. Federal law has, on numerous occasions, defined the term "invasion" in a manner consistent with the above 2nd circuit authority.

So, it is your pisition that the President of the United States is abusing his authority by preventing an invasion by 15,000+ foreigners, some of whom are very likely armed and intend to do harm to this nation? You are an idiot. Get help.

Neither you, nor the president, can create facts to justify the use of executive power. As recently as 2007, there were efforts to exclude border enforcement from the posse comitatus act. Those exclusions were never enacted. Name calling is not persuasive. Be best, my friend.
