Business was booming at this northeast Texas manufacturing plant –– until 300 ICE officials hauled off 150 of its workers.https://n.pr/2yoPHNY

LMAO. You don’t accidentally hire 150 illegal immigrants. The business should be shut down. If they can’t afford to pay welders a decent wage, one normal for the industry, then they shouldn’t be in business at all.

“Hiebert says they hire whoever walks in the door, and they pay decent wages — $20 to $25 an hour. Still, they've always had a hard time finding welders.”

Prevailing wage for a welder is over $50.

Can you share links supporting that assertion? Everything I have found cite numbers far below that.

Here’s your evidence: I am a welder. If someone offered me 20 bucks an hour I’d just go elsewhere. It’s easy enough to find a job as a welder paying more. With per diem, overtime, etc. Like I said... this dude knowingly hired immigrants because they are cheaper. Pretty simple.

As do his competitors. Do you want this firm to go out of business, or relocate to Mexico? Either way, American jobs will be lost.

If they all hire illegal immigrants knowingly, then fuck um. Let them go out of business if they can’t afford or don’t want to hire American. They’re already fucking over the US, let them go to Mexico and have someone willing to hire better take over.

But then their customers will buy Mexican goods not American ones. American companies cannot compete without cheap labour.

The odd thing is that people say Texas really wants tough border security and Immigrattion laws when in fact most of the State is hiring undocumented immigrants on a daily basis. If they didn’t nothing would get done here.

Why not arrest the owner for hiring them. That’s a lot of workers he should have gotten a visa to have. This is person not wanting to pay full wages otherwise.

So the latest job that Americans won’t do is welding? Ridiculous. If these companies won’t pay enough and have good enough working conditions to attract legal workers they should go out of business.
