Poll: A majority of rural Americans say they are better off financially compared with their parents at the same age — and a majority of rural parents think their kids will be better off.https://n.pr/2IZzz9K

$50 says it's a poorly formed polling question. I've got pretty good data that suggests #Americans are better off "materially" - not necessarily "financially" (i.e. savings etc.). It's mostly the result of microchip based production technologies.

You didn't poll the rural West?

It's true all over rural America. In the West, as well.

Perhaps. Clearly there are regional differences even in the limited areas shown above. I doubt many where I live are counting on the state to solve problems.

Have you spent a lot of time in rural America?

No, I just figured if you were spending time or living in rural areas, you'd be seeing evidence of what this article is talking about. That's all.

My favorite part of living in a rural area is the lack of bums. When I see doo doo on the ground I know it’s from a bear or a coyote.

Why are rural Americans becoming addicted? Because their culture has been hollowed out. Because they have forgotten the traditions that made them strong. Because they have lost their soul.

Our kids will not be better off. The “I want it all now” factor is their faces every day and not for a lack of us steering them away. We are no match for social media. And the ease they have to obtain things by way of credit cards, there’s no end.

Rural America is poised to do far, far better than urban America. And not because of politics.
