The rules to discipline prisoners were set up to control men, but those rules don't necessarily work well for women.https://n.pr/2ykYzUW

I thought men and women were equal. Same system, equal people. Why the hand wringing?

If they focused on guiding rather than controlling, then you’d get rules that work for everyone. It’s the adversarial approach that will tend to hurt women as they are naturally opposers and nurturers, not fighters and do’ers.

Yes, women are special needs children not adults. We get it. Your article does not demonstrate your conclusions. If men know they can’t lip off to prison guards, why don’t women?

"She's just like: Go ahead, write me a ticket. It just kind of fuels the fire. And so then it's an emotional ticket." More then deserved

That wasn't the point of that statement though. The point was that women bring in emotion, men don't, and you gotta deal with that differently. No one is saying women shouldn't be punished, but expecting emotionless demeanor is harmful.

Why are women entitled to be dealt with differently? There is no right to disrespect authority in prison.

Because it produces better outcomes for everyone including the guards.

Sorry, but I don't agree. A rule is a rule.

Rules aren't some infallible, set in stone decree. People make rules and people can change rules if they don't produce the desired outcome. Saying a rule is a rule is ridiculous when the people making the rules are questioning their effectiveness.

And what is that desired outcome? Apparently a world where men and women are unequal, where women are not held responsible for their conduct like adults or men but coddled and indulged like children. “The poor dear can’t help herself! Don’t punish her!”

They can be held responsible for conduct while having rules that foster a more rehabilitating prison system that is easier for guards to maintain order in, with the bonus of not dehumanizing the prisoners.
