Anger, rage and resentment are the only things that actually trickle down from the top. Stirring up the masses sees its way into the hearts of babes too.

Exactly!!! Social media and the media are culprits too!
-
I think the media report what they think we crave, so maybe we have to crave different things?!

The
@NRA literally ran an ad calling for the “clenched fist of truth” before the school year started and included teachers as part of the problem. -
Jeez!

Same problem as the inflated statistics the media was using last winter. They’re counting every incident involving a gun near a school, not incidents of shooters specifically attacking a school as in the Parkland tragedy. Intentionally misleading.
-
What do you mean by that? Because a few years back, some girls on the middle school crosscountry running team had a man point a gun at them while the team was training off campus. Personally, I’d call a man aiming a weapon at 12-13yr old girls at a school event such an incident.
-
Sounds awful, but it wasn't a shooting and I'll wager it only coincidentally had anything to do with a school. Sounds like a nut, and I hope they locked him up. If we're going to call things school shootings, they need to be shootings, otherwise it's just gun control propaganda.
-
I hope they locked him up too. I know the police were informed and were investing once all the kids were accounted for. I’m not sure what happened with the case after that.

-
Admittedly, I do get your point: We don’t know the guy’s motivations and the gun was never fired. It would be unfair to turn the incident into a misleading statistic; But at the same time, it doesn’t feel right to ignore it either. So I don’t really know /how/ to feel tbh.

-
We live in puzzling times, no question.

Agreed.

I work with the most at risk youth, the ones most likely to shoot up their schools, and the #1 cause of kids expressing homicidal ideations that I’ve noticed are because they’re angry about their life, having a negligent caregiver/parent who withholds affection and berates them.
