Why don't they join forces and offer them training or some funding?

Cajun Navy is all volunteers, so they have regular jobs. I don't think they would have enough time to give FEMA half the training that FEMA employees need.

The
#CajunNavy saved many lives in Texas during and after#HurricaneHarvey They were mobilized, organized, and risked their lives and property to help total strangers. The words you and@fema should be using are THANK YOU! - 1 more reply

This the same FEMA *whose administrator is under federal investigation*, right? What a terrible thing for them to say about Americans making an actual difference and risking their own lives through pure volunteerism.

The replies to this are restoring my faith in American idealism and service so at least some good came of it.

Without the help of the Cajun Navy, the death toll would have been much higher in Houston. They went out into all the forgotten neighborhoods during Harvey
-
They started rescuing people before it was even safe to do so!
-
If you lived not in the downtown Houston area...u were on your own..they went into areas no one else could or would...fema is full of shit

GARBAGE! I went through Harvey and the vast majority of people I saw performing rescues were locals or other civilians who drove into help. Our local law enforcement needed the help of everyone in the area bc the numbers of people in need were too high for them to handle.

LOL okay and we’ll just let FEMA handle it because they always do such an amazing job with large scale natural disasters.

In the latest
@PodSaveAmerica,@chefjoseandres suggests more disaster response be done by specialists, like the@CajunArmy. He makes a very compelling case for how@WCKitchen was able to be more agile and responsive during Maria and other disasters.https://overcast.fm/+H1PVqeWU4Thanks. Well, if the day ever comes where FEMA gets it right, then they can tell others to step aside. Until then, the folks in trouble deeply appreciate all the help they can get.

These people that show up are smarter and better trained that ANYBODY FEMA could put on the ground. I would much rather put my life in hands of Cajun Navy than anybody that works for FEMA.

Heros. They are experienced people at this point in time with massively good hearts. Many would be dead or suffering without their add. Bless them and their good works.

I’m from Houston and the Cajun Navy are god damned heroes. FEMA is talking that crap to avoid liability. They need to watch these folks and learn about how it’s done. They NEED citizen groups like this to help in disasters.

Why? Because they'll show up and show everyone they're better at recuse than FEMA?

Cajun Navy are NOT novice volunteers. They r experts at this - as much as the USCG and other agencies. Nose out of joint BC your local people were not up to the job???
