A baby alpaca, called a cria, was born during Hurricane Florence. For now, the cria -- a male -- is under the care of the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine in Raleigh.

"Overall we were extremely lucky," McKee said. "There was significant flooding of our lower lying areas and multiple trees lost. Some fencing was damaged. We are very thankful that all of the animals are safe and back home on the farm."
