Plans to add LGBTQ-related questions to the largest survey in the U.S. stalled after President Trump entered the White House last year. Newly released testimony of an official at the Commerce Department points to a possible reason.https://n.pr/2DhKRHi

I could see reason to not include this question. Maybe if it could be answered anonymously, separate from the rest of the survey, so that data could be collected while still protecting people.

It’s anonymous. There is a huge need for it to give a more accurate picture of the population. The census serves a purpose

In that case I support it being there. But is census data anonymous? I admittedly know nothing about it but I know you can look back at old census records and find names with addresses and birthdays and whatnot.

It’s completely anonymous. They can better allocate funds and services thru it as well. Also not everyone gets polled. Gender identity should also be there as it would help track crimes which is something we don’t have.

The 2010 Census asked for name. However, people do not always include it. They just respond to the other questions.

It’s just not made to be public knowledge, tho I also know that there’s not a single fellow queer person I know that’s against us being on the census.

What does LGTBBQ have to with the census? Are they members of "protected class"?
