Will
@NPR carry water for every gauze thin cover story presented by Republicans in charge of all branches of government, struggling to tighten their hold on the SCOTUS by advancing an unworthy candidate? The short answer: Yes -
Or, they’re just giving you facts you don’t like.
-
Facts are raw ore. They’re crafted by professionals into tools to advance opinions. NPR is selling a different world than I want to see come to pass.
-
Ok. So, on what grounds is this claim under the jurisdiction of the FBI ? Realize, no crime was ever reported. Even if it was in their jurisdiction, how do you investigate a suppressed memory ?
-
It’s not a suppressed memory. It’s a newly reported crime. The fbi conducts background investigations, and follow up all information relevant to continued and future official roles. Besides any criminal liability, an unresolved charge subjects K to outside influence.
-
I get that you don’t want to him to be confirmed. But it’s obvious your entire motivation is political. There’s no objective reasoning at all
-
Moving on now. Thanks for a generally respectful disagreement.

Finally some truth out of NPR.

Actually yes and no. No, they can't just walk over to the FBI and order them to investigate. But if just two rep Senators said they would not vote for Kavanaugh until a full investigation is done, that'd certainly spur one to happen.
-
Actually, no and no. The FBI has no jurisdiction. They legally have no authority over the issue, no matter what anyone does.

I quit listening to NPR due to its gross bias during the 2016 presidential election season. Haven't listened or read a word since, until this post. It's a breath of fresh air to witness NPR stating this fact, obvious though it may be. Won't go back to listening, though.
-
There's no such thing as unbiased news. Not even in the golden age of journalism. Bias is part of the human condition and it's our job as members to account for it when we get info. . . . I think the
@FBI is obliged to investigate as part of the background check. -
There's a difference between being unconsciously biased, though minimized through training on the one hand; and being intentionally biased on the other. NPR in my estimation falls into the latter category. And it infects so many shows, even This Am Life.

No. Local crimes are not in their jurisdiction, especially 35 year old unfounded ones. When he is confirmed, I hope he and Justice Thomas rain hell fire on the left.

Isn't it more about the vetting overall? And learning more about the character of this man?
