So reading that story, removing the chance of falling down stairs (used on 1st floor with no basement), what exactly is their inherent danger?

Was problem with the walkers or problem with the parents failure to watch the child?

Well, if you don’t let them use it outside, then you could possibly cut this down by as much as half.

Are the injuries related to infant walkers or parents who are not paying attention when a child is using infant Walker? We have greater share of accidents related to bicycles that does not mean we ban them.

infant walkers have been banned since 2004 in Canada for the same reason.

So that's roughly 27 injuries a day across the US? Yeah, that does seem kinda high...

they are horrible contraptions and I wish I had never used one. I think it gave my daughter scoliosis. Plus the Babies have too much power to go and not enough knowledge to keep them safe. Terrible invention.

How about falling down on concrete sidewalks and roadways? How about choking on a grape or blue berry? How about getting paper cuts? How about playing and just being kids? Is the NPR getting a kick back from some law firm that will be bringing a class action lawsuit?

Could this also go to parents not keeping an eye on their child while in these walkers as well?

Shit, now I'll feel like a bad parent if we dont get rid of that walker.

I think it is communicating we are offering mobility to infants before they need it. They are dangerous even when you are supervising I have been right next to kids before that have rolled right of a short ledge and flipped before I can react and respond.
-
There are plenty of infant equipment options that are not on wheels. Over 200,000 injuries is a stat that deserves consideration if mobility offered in walkers to infants is really a good idea.

Over 25 yrs (90-14) ... 9.2k/y. 74% are due to walkers used at the top of stairs that don't have gates. So really, that's *at most* only 2300/y injuries not caused by parental negligence (perhaps that is a lot, but the 230k number is not the walkers' fault)
-
I thought I was reading it wrong, but thank you for writing this out. Basically watch your babies folks, at all times
